The Bluebonnet Skatepark in Eagle Pass, Texas is officially open! After being selected via a nationwide competition for skatepark designers and builders, Spohn Ranch transformed an under-utilized space below US Highway 277 into a state-of-the-art concrete skatepark.
The 8,500 square foot skatepark is a flowing concrete masterpiece, thoughtfully blending street and transition style terrain. In addition to the skatepark, Spohn Ranch’s scope included engineering, earthwork, stormwater management, and an ADA-compliant parking lot.
On July 1st, the City of Eagle Pass hosted the official Bluebonnet Skatepark ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony. Spohn Ranch brought in professional skateboarders Charlie Blair (from Powell Peralta fame) and Daniel Espinoza, who has been a long time Spohn Ranch advocate. Also joining the fun were south Texas skateboarders Mikey Whitehouse, Nick Holt and Drake Flores. A big community turnout gave these skateboarders a great audience to showcase their skills.
July is National Park and Recreation Month and what better way to kick things off than with the opening of a brand new skatepark! Thank you to the City of Eagle Pass, The Slums Skateshop, and the entire Eagle Pass community for inviting us to Texas.
