Collins Park Skatepark
Attempting to fill the void, skateboarding advocate and local skateshop owner of Classic Skateshop, Gary Iannitelli approached Mayor Jimmy Davis in 2014 with 15 kids by his side and said, ‘We need a skate park.’ Two years later, with the help of the City of Bayonne and the fine work of our Spohn Ranch build crew, the future of skateboardings tomorrow has secured a place for the kids to skate today.
“This is state-of-the-art, brand new and for the skating community. Bayonne is on the map,” says Third Ward Councilman Gary La Pelusa.
Located at the south end where JFK blvd ends in Bayonne, NJ with a beautiful parallel view of Bayonne Bridge, is the new Collins Park Skatepark, complete built most items you’d want in a street plaza. Such as hubbas, grind rails, ledges, manual pad, plus other added amenities such as a miniramp and A-Frame.
“Finally we have a good spot for all these kids to come and test their skills and learn,” says Classic Skate Shop Owner Gary Iannitelli.
The skatepark is open daily, located at 200 W 1st St. Bayonne, NJ 07002 and while you’re visiting, stop by Classic Skateshop and say hi.
