On August 22nd, the City of Norfolk, Nebraska officially cut the ribbon on their new concrete skatepark designed and built by Spohn Ranch.
The 10,000 square foot skatepark replaced an outdated facility with aging metal ramps and is now signature Spohn Ranch, featuring a mix of street and transition style terrain and a colorful aesthetic. Click here view the Norfolk Skatepark design renderings.
Since opening, the skatepark’s 4-6’ bean-shaped bowl, mini-ramp section and variety of modern street elements including stairs and rails have been drawing skateboarders and other wheel sports from across the State.
The City of Norfolk’s Parks & Recreation Director, Pat Mrsny summarized the project’s success in a letter of recommendation:
“It has sparked a lot of interest with people already coming from 2-4 hours away to check out the new skatepark. It is getting rave reviews. It skates very well and was built for a wide range of skill levels. That is a testament to good design and craftsmanship in construction. From design to completion of the skatepark you did a professional job and we are proud to have a Spohn Ranch Skatepark and very pleased to have the first one in Nebraska. You delivered on everything you said.
I would recommend Spohn Ranch Skateparks to anyone wanting to design and build a first-class skatepark in their city.”
