Clarkdale Park Skatepark in Hawaiian Gardens, California is getting a facelift thanks to the skatepark designers and builders at Spohn Ranch. After years of making due with aging metal ramps and a worn slab, local skateboarders are ecstatic about the upgrade to modern concrete terrain.
While the space remains compact, the new skatepark design will provide good flow and a variety of features including quarter-pipes, manual pads and grind rails.
Spohn Ranch’s scope for the project included design development, construction documents, steel fabrication, concrete/shotcrete and installation of expanded polystyrene (also know as structural styrofoam) for the elevated sections of the skatepark.
Both the grind rails and the concrete elements will feature color accents for a modern aesthetic pop.
Spohn Ranch’s scope of work will wrap up in the next few weeks, followed by landscaping and some final detail work by other contractors.
