Skatepark construction is underway in Westlake Village, California. The City’s first concrete skatepark is one component of a 19-acre recreational site located on the north side of Thousand Oaks Boulevard, West of Lindero Canyon Road. 10+ years in the making, the project finally came to fruition through a unique collaboration between the City of Westlake and the Triunfo YMCA.
Skatepark design by Fullerton-based landscape architect MIG got the ball rolling prior to Spohn Ranch’s team of skatepark builders arriving on site. The skatepark features a beginner-intermediate bowl that transitions in depth from four to six feet via a waterfall, round hip and sharp hip – all blended to perfection by our skilled crew. A wall of quarter-pipes connects the bowl area to the street style terrain below which includes stairs, handrails, hubba ledges and an a-frame feature.
Hands down our favorite aspect of the skatepark though, is its backdrop – picturesque views of the Santa Monica Mountains.
The skatepark build is expected to wrap next month, but a grand opening celebration won’t be immediate – for safety and liability reasons, the skatepark will be off limits until other phases of the project are complete. Stay tuned for more details.
