Doug Hagen
Director of Projects
In 2006, after twelve years in the mountains of Colorado, Doug moved to Southern California and became head of Spohn Ranch’s project management division. Prior to joining the Spohn Ranch family, Doug capitalized on a diverse action sports background to land a career in terrain park design and construction.
He developed a well-rounded skill set including terrain park design/build, snowmaking, logging and clearing, trenching and shoring, welding and fabrication, mountain bike and ski trail building and maintenance, warehousing, logistics and event production. He was recognized by the National Ski Area Association for his design expertise and has contributed to a number of industry publications.
During his tenure at Copper Mountain Resort, Doug managed over sixty staff members and coordinated with producers of premiere events such as the 2005 Winter Gravity Games, USASA Nationals, U.S. Telemark Nationals and USSA Grand Prix. He also fostered relationships with local and regional representatives of government agencies such as the United States Forest Service, Colorado Division of Wildlife and United States Army Corps of Engineers.
In his current role at Spohn Ranch, Doug’s hands touch nearly every project that comes through our doors. He is intimately engaged in the conceptual planning, cost estimating and technical construction document processes and he leverages his rich construction background to ensure intelligent and responsible design-build projects. He also leads Spohn Ranch’s back-office project management – coordinating schedules, suppliers, sub-contractors and all of the little things in-between to help the boots on the ground.
