Spohn Ranch’s latest NYC skatepark project, a collaboration with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and landscape architecture firm Abel Bainnson Butz, is nearing completion at Betsy Head Park in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood.
The Betsy Head Skatepark is approximately 6,000 square feet of flowing fun. Quarter-pipes and other transition elements line nearly every inch of the perimeter, creating fun lines and avoiding dead ends. Skateboarders who prefer street-style terrain will not feel left out however, as the skatepark also features a variety of grind rails and ledges.
After our skatepark designers collaborated with Abel Bainnson Butz on a modern and thoughtful layout, Spohn Ranch’s craftsmen flawlessly executed the construction scope including steel fabrication, earthwork, concrete and shotcrete.
Please note that while the skatepark build is nearing completion, Betsy Head Park remains an active construction site, so please stay out. Stay tuned to the NYC Parks website for grand opening information and stay tuned to our social media channels for future East Coast projects.
UPDATE:
Betsy Head Skatepark is complete! Our friend and professional skateboard photographer Mike Heikkila was able to shoot some NYC locals before the skatepark officially opens.
