Construction of Goleta, California’s first public skatepark is officially underway.
Spohn Ranch was commissioned as skatepark designer by the City of Goleta in 2013, but after a successful design process, the larger park project was put on hold due to a property ownership issue. Thankfully the issue was eventually resolved and the project resumed in early 2018.
The 4,500 square foot Goleta Skatepark will become one component of a new 4-acre park in Goleta’s historic Old Town, near the intersection of Hollister and Kellogg.
We were provided a small design canvas, but working with local skateboarders, we designed a modern concrete skatepark with ledges, rails, hipped banks and a wide quarter-pipe.
Skatepark construction will wrap up in the next month, but the park won’t open until early 2019. Stay tuned for updates and grand opening information!
